Planned Park Closures: Thermal Assisted Aerial Control (TAAC) Program

The ACT Parks and Conservation Service will carry out its annual Thermal Assisted Aerial Control (TAAC) program from Thursday 8 May to Friday 30 May 2025. This operation targets vertebrate pest species in key conservation areas, water catchments, and some semi-urban locations across the ACT. Park and reserve closures will be in place during this period for public safety.

Telopea District Park

An established urban park near Kingston

Telopea Park is an 8 hectare space in Barton with picnic and playground areas, cycle and pedestrian paths, public toilets and barbecues.

Created in 1922, Telopea Park takes its name from the floral emblem of NSW, more commonly known as the waratah (Telopea speciosissima).

It features an informal mix of mature exotic and native trees, and is a popular venue for family picnics. It attracts pedestrians and cyclists from Kingston and Manuka.

Dogs are welcome on-leash as outlined on the dog exercise area map and are prohibited within 10 metres of a public play space, fireplace or barbecue in use.
